Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) North East in-charge, Rajesh Sharma today informed that the AAP will be contesting in the forthcoming Nagaland polls scheduled for February 27 and will announce the list of candidates on February 7.
“Many intending candidates approached us for candidature,” said Sharma while addressing a press conference here today at Crescent International Hotel. We will announce our candidate list in the morning of February 7, he said adding that 14 intending candidates have approached AAP for the party ticket so far.
On the other hand, he expressed dismay that Nagaland politics “is based on money power. So it is a huge game of money and AAP never encourage that kind of politics.”
In this, Sharma requested the youth of Nagaland, the women of Nagaland and the people who want change in Nagaland, who want the politics of development to come out and join the AAP. “We are ready to give ticket to eligible candidates, who meet the criteria,” he said.
Sharma also made the AAP’s stand clear that the party will not have any pre-poll or post poll alliance.
AAP Nagaland State President, Asu Keyho meanwhile informed that the AAP has a serious view to give a new hope and a new vision for the state of Nagaland. “In this, we have taken a strong view that change has to come from the people and if change has to come, we have to select appropriate candidate,” Keyho said. “We welcome each and everyone who are willing to stand for AAP,” he added.
