Assam Govt Launches Key Initiatives to Boost Livestock Sector

A State Level Programme on major initiatives of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Government of Assam, was organised today at Sri Sri Damodar Deva International Auditorium, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati. The programme was held in the august presence of Hon’ble Minister Shri Krishnendu Paul, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries and PWR (PMGSY), Government of Assam.
Shri M.S. Manivannan, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department. Dr. Niranjan Kalita, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Veterinary and Fishery University, and Shri Manoj Saikia, Chairman, Assam Livestock & Poultry Development Corporation, were also present along with departmental senior officers, veterinary doctors, staff members, livestock farmers and media persons.
During the programme, several key initiatives were launched and announced, including the Animal Registration Week through Aadhaar Seeding under the National Digital Livestock Mission, Pashu Swasthya Shibir under the SOPD-G Scheme, declaration of District HQ Dispensaries for 24×7 veterinary services to the public, PM-JUGA Scheme under the National Livestock Mission, and release of ASF culling compensation under the ASCAD Scheme.
