In a first, 20 metric tonnes of ODOP honey from Baksa, Assam was exported to the USA on Friday. Flagged off by APEDA and Salt Range Foods Pvt. Ltd., the near-organic honey is sourced from the Aspirational District’s eco-friendly farms.
The export gives local beekeepers 43% higher prices than local rates. APEDA supported testing and quality upgrades to meet global standards.
The flag-off was led by Smti. Aruna Rajoria, IAS, with APEDA Chairman Shri. Abhishek Dev and other officials present. The move links Northeast farmers to global markets under the One District One Product initiative.
