State Govt focusing on identifying specialized sport for each district

A five day long 60th Annual School Sports Week of Government Higher Secondary School Pfutsero got underway today.The sports week will also be marked by traditional games such as pole climbing, cart racing, Naga wrestling, among others.Gracing the inaugural function as the guest speaker, Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary for School Education & SCERT Nagaland, appreciated the school for been the exemplar school in the state.She also acknowledged the active participation of community leaders in school management which reflects the progressive nature of the community.She recalled how the community leaders sponsored a computer lab for the school and said that such initiatives should be emulated by others as well.

The Commissioner & Secretary also said that high student’s enrolment at GHSS Pfutsero reflects the teachers commitments and dedication in providing holistic quality education and congratulated all the principal, teachers and SMDC members.Play physical games instead of spending time on mobile games .She informed the gathering that the Government is putting a lot of effort in sports and physical fitness.sport teaches us many life skill lessons.there are winners and losers in the games where we learn how to take things positively in life,she maintained.

Sport teaches us team spirit, being sensitive to others feelings, hard work, determination and respect for opponents, she said and urged the students to learn these valuable lessons from sports and apply them in their lives.Further, she encouraged the students to be hard working, sincere and confident in life and said that it will help them achieve success. While lamenting that mobile gaming addiction has become common amongst the young people, she urged the students to be disciplined by cultivating healthy habits in life. She also urged them to make time to play physical games and sports instead of spending time on mobile games.She spoke on the government’s focus to identify specialized sport for each district and said that there is bright future for developing professionalism in sports.Strengthen teaching staff earlier, Vechikhoyi Lohe, Principal GHSS Pfutsero in his the welcome address thanked the Commissioner & Secretary for the Government approval in introducing science stream at GHSS Pfutsero and stated that it would greatly benefit the community.He informed the gathering that the school has 684 enrollments from classes 6-12.

He also stated that the school is making every effort to provide holistic quality education to students.However, shortage of teachers in the school has become a serious challenge and requested the Commissioner & Secretary School Education to strengthen teaching staff in the coming days.Rev Dr Kowepe Kanuo, Director Chakhesang Mission Society invoked God’s blessings for the programme which was led by Vepocuyi Ruho, GT (Science). Erepe-u and friends enthralled the gathering with special number entitled Rise.
Vilunyi Movi, Physical Education Teacher administered oath to the house leaders.Later, Kevileno, accompanied by Dr Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha; and Vitsolie Keyho, Junior Education Officer (Physical) School Education, also inspected EBRC Pfustero, GMS Pfutsero Town, DIET and SDEO Office Pfutsero and interacted with the teachers and officials.The sports week will continue till October 15.
