NDRF RESCUED A DISTRESSED CIVILIAN FROM RIVER BRAHMAPUTRA

In a remarkable display of promptness and expertise, a team from 1 Bn NDRF rescued a civilian struggling to stay afloat in the Brahmaputra River near Palashbari Ghat on January 1, 2025. The team was in the midst of a Flood Water Rescue (FWR) demonstration when they spotted the exhausted individual at approximately 1005 hours.

Without hesitation, the team commander intervened, rescuing the civilian and providing immediate heat and pre-hospital treatment. The individual was then rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Mirza via Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for further medical attention. Despite efforts to communicate, the team was unable to establish verbal contact, leading them to presume the individual might be mentally unstable.

This incident highlights the NDRF’s commitment to responding to emergencies, even during training exercises. Their swift actions not only saved a life but also underscore the importance of vigilance and preparedness in water-based emergencies. The NDRF’s specialized training and expertise played a crucial role in this successful rescue operation, demonstrating their readiness to respond to disasters and emergencies.
