The crime graph has gone down to a certain level in the capital city Guwahati in the year 2022 than in 2021, while the disposal rate of criminal cases has gone up to 167.20 per cent during the year.This year the rate of disposal of cases is 167.20 per cent up to December 29,2022.
Of 10,234 cases registered in various police stations in 2022, chargesheets have been filed in 3,609 cases,final reports have been submitted in 13,328 while 175 cases have been disposed of by other means.A total of 17,112 cases have been disposed of during the year,Commissioner of Police Diganta Bora said here on Monday.
In 2021, of 35,396 cases registered, 21,545 cases have been disposed of and the rate of disposal was 104.18 per cent.There was a decrease of 50.75 per cent cases in the city in 2022 upto December 29 than 2021,”Bora said.
There is a fall of 10,496 cases in 2022 than 2021.Among others, murder cases have gone up from 61 in 2021 to 72 in 2022, rape cases from 60 in 2021 to 62 in 2022, and dowry deaths have been going up from 2 in 2021 to 11 in 2022.
“Our continuous efforts and the cooperation from the citizens have led to a let-up of the in crimes. We hope the people will keep extending their cooperation in making Guwahati a crime-free city,”Bora further said.
This year alone the city police seized drugs with a face value of Rs 407 crore during this year.During the year, the police seized 279.04 kg ganja, 355.535 gm heroin and 31.6 gm Brown sugar and arrested 23 people in this connection.
Guwahati saw the most theft and cheating cases among various crimes in the last year.
According to the record, the number of theft cases has also gone down from 4,492 in 2021 to 2,807 in 2022.
