Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Irrigation, Government of Assam, today visited the residence of the late Prashant Kumar Shatapathi in Balasore, Odisha. Shri Shatapathi lost his life in the recent terrorist attack in Pehelgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
On behalf of the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and the people of Assam, Minister Singhal conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. A cheque of ₹5 lakh as one-time financial assistance from the Government of Assam was handed over to the family. The minister also delivered a personal condolence message from the Assam Chief Minister.
Minister Singhal paid floral tributes at the portrait of the late Shri Shatapathi and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Speaking to the family members, Minister Singhal stated, “The entire nation, including the people of Assam, stands united with the families of those who lost their lives in the Pehelgam terror attack. I am here to express our shared grief and unwavering support.”
The Minister further emphasized the government’s resolute stance against terrorism, saying, “Terrorists and their sponsors must understand the strength of India’s unity and the consequences of strong counter-terrorism operations like ‘Operation Sindoor,’ led by the Government of India to eliminate terrorism from our soil.
Shri Singhal was accompanied by Shri Mukesh Chandra Sahoo, Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam.
