Career Counselling Seminar held at ADBU

A seminar on career counselling was held on 11th September, 2024 at the conference hall of Assam Don Bosco University, Azara Campus. The seminar was organized jointly by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Career Guidance Cell, Assam Don Bosco University School of Technology. The resource person for the Seminar was Dr. Shubhajit Das , Assistant Professor , Department of Mechanical Engineering, Assam Skill University. Harajit Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the gathering. Dr. Shubhajit Das was felicitated with a Phulam Gamosa by Dr. Buljit Buragohain, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman, Career Guidance Cell. The introduction of the resource person was given by Anupam Gohain, Training and Placement Officer (TPO) of Assam Don Bosco University.
Dr. Shubhajit Das delivered an insightful talk covering various aspects of Mechanical Engineering, including its three main domain namely design, thermal and manufacturing. He also discussed the significance of modern technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), data science, cyber-physical systems, and cloud computing in the context of Industry 4.0. He elaborated on the roles of engineers and the skills required in different sectors, including oil and gas, research and development, additive manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, and academia. Dr. Das advised students on how to prepare for their careers by focusing on key areas such as crafting a strong CV, gaining deep knowledge in core subjects and preparing for group discussions. Additionally, Dr. Das encouraged students to be positive and confident during interviews. He discussed several important examinations for further studies and job opportunities, including GATE, IES, RRB, BRO, TOEFL, and GRE etc. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Buljit Buragohain, who expressed gratitude to Dr. Das and all the attendees for their participation. Overall, the seminar was a valuable experience, providing students with practical advice and insights into career opportunities in Mechanical Engineering and beyond.
