North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, had laid the Foundation Stone of its Permanent Campus at Umsawli, Shillong, Meghalaya.
The program was graced by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Honorable Union Minister of State (IC) of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, MoS in Prime Minister’s office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space Secretary; Dr Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General NECTAR along with officials from NECTAR, in the presence of esteemed guests from DST and other government officials from various State and Central organizations, institutions and key stakeholders,
This milestone marks a significant step forward in NECTAR’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological intervention and advancement in North East India.
Construction of the NECTAR office is expected to be completed by 2-3 years with operations set to commence soon after. This initiative aligns with NECTAR’s vision to be the leading Centre to foster, nurture and ensure the delivery, sustenance and use of technology applications for public and social good; and to reach and expand the benefits of technology among people, communities, institutions and governments for equitable and inclusive social and economic development of the North Eastern Region of our country.
