Assam Centre review key infrastructure projects to accelerate state’s growth: CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday held a detailed discussion with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on the progress of several transformative infrastructure projects aimed at accelerating the state’s development.

In a post on X after the meeting, Sarma described his interaction with the Union Minister as a valuable learning experience and credited Gadkari’s support for the significant advancement of infrastructure in Assam.

“Meeting Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji is always a learning experience. Assam’s infrastructure has benefited tremendously from his support and he has always been available to help solve ongoing issues,” the Chief Minister wrote.

Chief Minister Sarma also expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister for his guidance during the Assam elections and discussed a range of ongoing and upcoming infrastructure initiatives across the state.

The two leaders reviewed the progress of major projects including the proposed Brahmaputra underwater tunnel, the Kaziranga Elevated Corridors, National Highway expansion works and road repair projects being undertaken across Assam.

“We discussed the progress of transformative projects such as the Brahmaputra underwater tunnel, Kaziranga Elevated Corridors, National Highway expansion and repair projects across the State among other issues to further accelerate Assam’s growth trajectory,” Sarma said in his post.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, Kavitha Padmanabhan were also present during the meeting.

The Chief Minister noted that these projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity, boost economic activity and strengthen Assam’s infrastructure network, contributing to the state’s long-term growth and development.
